After observing the social media for more over a year, i really think we all have downgraded the mutual respect for each other on social media. In fact what i feel is, this is not social media, it has become "Un-social media".
In 2006 when i used social media first time as in form of Yahoo chat box, people there tried to find friends, love, like minded people, and group of common interests. Then there was a time of Orkut, where we made friends, met them, shared our moments, greeted each other on various locations and there was not much privacy about it.
But if we look around now, Facebbok, Twitter are flooded with hateful speeches, personal comments, political agendas, conspiracy theories, blame games and what not. I think eventually people have downgraded ourselves with the evolution of social media.
I read one quote by boxer Mike Tyson "Social media made y'all way to comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it." which in fact is true in today's world. I do not support violence but the saying in correct till some extent.
Today the world is fighting with Covid19 pandemic, which is now 1.5 years old. countries are producing vaccines and are in the race of vaccinating their people. People Off the social media are now trying to live their normal life, adapting to the change which this pandemic has brought into their lives. Businesses have changed their operating structures, people have changed their life styles, and of course the governments have changed their administrative models. but their is a particular group of people who wants to unrest the world and agitate it for the war, civil war, world war, at whatever level they can do it, they are trying.
In past couple of years world has witnessed many agitations, in India, United states, Venezuela, Africa, Turkey, HongKong and many other places, list is long. Are all governments failing or the people are failing to keep their calm and becoming anxious to get thing instantaneously done or being provoked for this? I will share my views on these.
1. Are all governments failing: If a government has failed then why even after change in the government people are agitating? May be the new government is not effective like the previous government for example: United States. People disapproved US president Donald trump over his comments, social media posts, his views on environmental policies, strictness on Visa regulations, racist comments, etc. He went out of power, new govt came US president Joseph Biden, but people are still disapproving him on handling of border crisis, raise on taxes etc.
If a government has failed then how did they again come in power? for example India. Prime minister Narendra modi when come into power in 2014 people criticized him for currency demonetisation, triple talak, Surgical strike, which they had promised in election manifesto yet he again came into power in 2019, now issue of Ram Mandir, Article 370, Citizenship amendment act, farmers law, which they had promised in their manifesto, were resolved, but a group of people started protests against it. JNU riots, 26/01/2021 Lal quilla riots, CAA protests which started as CAB NRC protest, farmer's protest , these are nothing but new political agendas given by the opposition parties as they do not have agendas for next general elections.
Protesting against something is the right given by the constitution and performing it for something is lawful, but is it right to damage public property, block roads for months and trouble other citizens. The government has responsibility to listen people's demand and act on them, but is it not the duty of people to do something for the country?
2. Are people failing to keep their calm and becoming anxious: It is an observation that people have become more anxious and want things instantaneously done , like instant food, instant messages, instant money transfer, instant delivery of goods almost everything instant. This has led people to loose their ability to stay calm. "Patient is a virtue" that is true and in today's world we all are lacking it. This is another reason for anger, frustration, agitation.
3. Provocation: In today's world, the enemy is not trying to hit you from the front but internally. They want to eat you like termite. They are creating a war front inside the countries and preparing it for a civil war. Venezuela, United states, India, Hong Kong have faced massive protests, riots in past few years, which have caused war like situations inside these countries. Social media feeds, too much information sharing, misinformation, paid promotions by influencers have helped them.
People act as herd of sheep. Someone just need to know how to move a herd.
Raising a voice against people in power or an administration with social media tools, paid promotions, posts, is a new way of provoking people. Who are these people behind it? Can be an enemy country, politicians, extremists, or someone with a good reason.
This is we need to understand what we should share, read and support.
India and Covid19:
India fought good with Covid19 first wave, govt. imposed nation wide lockdown, people stayed home, wore masks. Political parties shouted for lack of masks, testing kits, ect. all were manufactured, imported and brought to the people. Cases went down and started calling Kerala model perfect, Delhi model perfect, Uttar Pradesh model perfect, but it was an early celebration.
people returned to normal lives, most of them following corona guidelines and accepting it as new normal, but rural India thought it's all over.
India is the first country to get the home made vaccine. the vaccination program started in January and was going good. As a good will Govt. started Vaccine maitri program, through which India sent vaccines to many countries around the world.
India is hit was Second wave. Kubh mela, Rmazan, Pongal, Holi and many other festivals were being celebrated in India. The change of season, and peoples mistake of putting down the guards against pandemic caused the surge in the cases. we had learnt a lot in first wave but wasn't quite ready for second wave. Medical system is overloaded and shortage of beds, oxygen and medical equipment was noted. Thanks to the India's bilateral ties, the support from many countries poured in and India has started healing.
India's image globally has changed. Prime Minister Modi had created a strong India which can lead the world. Our own media houses and reporters have crushed the vision of Indians to lead by sharing negative articles, images and news world wide. The Virus which started from China has now became Indian variant. China played victim game, when people started calling it Chinese virus , like they called Spanish flue in 1900s, they called it racist. Now, where is the racism when everyone in calling Indian variant? We should ask this question to international media, national media, shouldn't we?
But we won't. Chinese are better than Indians, they never shared real reason how Covid19 started from China, how did they contain it, real number of cases and fatalities, vaccine status. They should thank WHO who supported them in it. China has done crime against humanity.
India on the other hand developed vaccine, provided it to the world, celebrated too early, messed up on it's own and now hit with cases and became the epicenter of Covid19. The image of India, which has been damaged severely by own media, will take time to rebuild. We Indians must understand it. Do what is need to be done to support each other, to overcome the differences, to win this war against Virus and live in the new world with new normal. We can not afford to lower our guards.
Thanks to new Make in India policies which has helped Serum institute of India and Bharat Biotech to manufacture indigenous vaccine and supply it to the world. Sharing is caring, that's what we have been taught and for good of humanity we must follow it.
